911 is a joke in your town

so, i finally saw Fahrenheit 9/11 on friday…not typically the kind of movie i would go see, but at nicole’s insistence, i decided to go see it…i must say, i was ready to go in and not like it, or be indifferent, but i was totally surprised and really, really liked it…now, 2 points must first be made: 1) i absolutely cannot stand michael moore, i think he is sneaky, underhanding, and manipulative, and i don’t like or appreciate the way he traps people on camera, and 2) you must understand that although this film is probably labeled a documetary, it is no such thing, it is a movie filled with funny quotes, clever editing, and extreme stretching of the truth that borders on lying…with that said, i still really, really liked it…it made you laugh, cry, loathe your country, love your country and feel a million other emotions…

my favorite parts were as follows:
1) the representative (or senator, i don’t remember which) from michigan explaining that it would be almost impossible for them to read every bill or law that they pass, and admitting he barely glanced at the Patriot Act…now, i don’t know about anyone else, but it scares me that this guy couldn’t take the time to read through one of the most important pieces of legislation of our time, an act that basically changed/suspended some of our fundamental rights as citizens of this country…but i guess he had more important things to worry about…
2) the troops in iraq talking about the music they like to listen to when fighting during the war…one of them mentioned they listened to Drowning Pool’s “Bodies”, and another one started singing “the roof, the roof, the roof is one fire, we don’t need no water let the motherf***er burn, burn, motherf***er burn!”…he said when he saw burnings building in iraq he liked to sing that song…kind of scary
3) john ashcroft bursting into his rendition of “Let the Eagle Soar” while introducing the Patriot Act, possibly one of the funniest things i have ever seen caught on tape…

so, anyway, if you haven’t seen Fahrenheit 9/11 yet, i would recommend you go see it, if only just to be more armed when somebody else is ready to discuss Bush, Iraq, or politics in general…plus it is really funny

man, i was with you until the second word, ‘it’ in the second line.

i don’t plan on seeing this or that bowling for columbine shit. i’m sure i would disagree with the entire things… :(

one time a friend called me (after a funeral he’d gone to) singing that drowning pool song. that was sorta messed up, haha.

derek, this is one politically-charged movie even you might enjoy…i don’t think i stopped laughing for more than a couple minutes during the whole thing…
